Furness Shoreline Quilers

FURNESS SHORELINE QUILTERS GUILD

HISTORY

The first meeting of Furness Shoreline Quilters was held on 1st November 1989 with 8 Founder Members and the first meeting at St. Mary's Parish Hall, Ulverston, Cumbria. LA12 0BY. was held on January 3rd 1990, since then we have met on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding the holiday months July/August) from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and our membership fluctuates from about 30 to 50 people with mixed abilities. We usually have a speaker/workshop/demonstration or just a get together and sew night and of course many splinter groups now meet outside the FSQ monthly meet. Now and again we manage to secure a National Speaker and offer a day workshop.

Membership for 12 months is £12 payable in Jan/Feb. Our AGM is in February and we are a registered charity.

Every 2 – 4 years we try to host a large Quilt Show and although the main aim is to have a Show we usually manage to make a bit of money for local charities as well – these have all been very successful to date with many charities benefiting.

Visitors are welcome to our monthly meetings at a charge of £2 each. Tea/coffee and biscuits are free. Why not come along and join us one month, you would be most welcome.
