Our Group meets in the lovely Market Town of Ulverston
at St. Mary's Church Room, Victoria Road, LA12 0BY. on the 1st Wednesday
of each month excluding the holiday months of July and August. The Town
centre of Ulverston boasts cobbled streets with fascinating buildings
built predominantly in the 18th and 19th Centuries. The Town is surrounded
by rolling countryside dotted with Villages and Hamlets from which there
are fantastic views over Morecambe Bay. To the east just a few miles away
is picturesque Windermere and to the west the Town of Barrow-in-Furness
famous for its shipbuilding.
Ulverston is the birthplace of Stan Laurel of the comedy pair Laurel and Hardy and houses the only official Museum dedicated to them. Ulverston is also known as the Festival Town and is proud of the variety and quality of festivals and events held throughout the year.
